BOX 5.0 Session Overview
0.0 Introduction (10 min)

OVERVIEW:
- Capture attention and spark curiosity about the B❒X by wearing your B❒X for the introduction.
- Establish The B❒X as a physical and mental model for unconscious thinking.
- Give participants a clear roadmap of what they will experience.
- Reassure participants that this process is well-tested and impactful.
BOX EXPERIENCE: B❒X On Facilitator’s Head

The Facilitator wears the B❒X to raise curiosity about the day.

1.0 What is The B❒X? (15 min)

Overview:
Informative and interactive introduction to the concept of the box including:
- Mindset is another way of thinking about “The box.”
- The purpose of the box is safety and success
- The source of the phrase “think out of the BOX” is the 9-Dot Puzzle
- We think out of the box to try to solve puzzling situations.
- Thinking out is not enough, you’ll need to build a better box.
- Participants write today’s topic into their box
BOX EXPERIENCE: Inside Flap

- Complete the 9-Dot Puzzle
- Write your topic on the BOX.

2.0 Build your B❒X (25 min)

Overview:
Begin the process of personalizing the B❒X on the outside (the observable self or persona) by decorating three panels.
- Appearance
- What you are doing now for the day’s topic
- Your personal brand (what you want others to think about you).
Sharing in pairs and/or small groups to build rapport and understanding.

Panel 2: Write/draw what you are doing now related to the topic
Panel 3: Write/draw your personal brand (what you want others to think of you)
Use the outside of the box as a get to know you activity to build rapport in the group

3.0 Signals to Breakthrough the B❒X (5 min)

OVERVIEW:
- We don’t think out of the box when things are working well for us, it is when we are not getting the results we desire.
- There are a few signals to think out of the box and the first one is Feeling Boxed In.

3.1 Boxed-In Feelings (20 min)

OVERVIEW:
- To simulate that feeling, participants wear their B❒X for about 5 minutes, and then debrief the feelings that generated and how that is similar to how they may feel under pressure.
- Feeling boxed in isn’t bad, it is just a signal that your thinking isn’t delivering the results you want, and you need to breakthrough your box to better results.

- Wear the B❒X while completing some tasks.
- Debrief the feeling and emotions of having the B❒X on your head.
- Connect that to feelings and experiences under pressure.

3.2 Boxed-In Behaviors (15 min)

OVERVIEW:
- Boxed in feelings can lead to boxed in behaviors.
- We try to present a positive outer appearance, but under pressure our behaviors may change.
- Those behaviors can be signals to breakthrough your thinking to better results.
- Comparing your Boxed-In Behaviors (panel 4) with what we are Doing Now (panel 2) and what your Personal Brand (Panel 3) provides insights on how we feel about our our Boxed-In Behaviors.
- Reflection on what each individuals boxed in behaviors are, and how to deal with those concludes this session.

4.0 Breakthrough Strategies to Build a Better B❒X (10 min)

OVERVIEW
Introduce the structure for the next section of the program.
We will go through each element of the physical box with these four steps:

Over reliance on the gift can create challenges for creativity. - Breakthrough Strategy
A way to breakthrough your current thinking to unlock new possibilities - Build a Better B❒X
A way to apply this strategy in everyday life or to the topic of the program

4.1 Own your B❒X (15-20 min)

Psychological Safety:
- Change is a door that must be opened from the inside. You own your box and you control what you write and talk about today.
- Don’t write anything on the B❒X that you don’t want others to see.

- Look at the photo and discuss how opening up our box connects to authenticity, vulnerability.


4.2 Open New Filters (20-25 min)

I think I am experiencing “reality” but I am in fact filtering through my past experience, knowledge and expertise. When I forget this it is easy for me to become rigid, stubborn or slow to change. - Breakthrough Strategy

4.4 Open your Mind (20-25 min)

Let out the Old & Let in the New
Choose old thoughts to let go of to make space for new thoughts that are aligned to your success image.

- Write your “buts’ (contradictions) to your success image on the red side.
- Punch open the red and green side representing having an open mind.
- Choose some negative thoughts to let out the exit of the red side.
- Add some new ideas on the green side.

5.0 Change your B❒X Change your World (10 min)

OVERVIEW
- Wear your Better B❒X to experience the difference between a fixed and growth mindset.
- In the next two sections we’ll explore the impact of using your Better B❒X.

5.3 Change your World (10-15 min)

OVERVIEW
If you make the improvements on the inside of your box (thoughts, feelings, strategies), what changes will show up on the outside (your behaviors)?
- What new things will others see you do?
- What new things will others hear you say?
- What new feedback will you receive from others?
- When you look in the mirror, what will you notice that is different?
Share the most energizing changes with others.

- New thoughts when looking in the MIRROR
Use this output as a tool for sharing the changes you expect to see.

6.0 What’s Next? (10 min)

Our final closure process is designed to lengthen the impact beyond the program.
