BOX 5.0 Session Overview Detailed

Title

0.0 Introduction

image.png

OVERVIEW:

  • Capture attention and spark curiosity about the B❒X by wearing your B❒X for the introduction.
  • Establish The B❒X as a physical and mental model for unconscious thinking.
  • Give participants a clear roadmap of what they will experience.
  • Reassure participants that this process is well-tested and impactful.

BOX EXPERIENCE: B❒X On Facilitator’s Head

image.png

The Facilitator wears the B❒X to raise curiosity about the day.

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Intro Video demo:

image.png

Introduce the B❒X process with the box on your head.

The physical B❒X represents our invisible thinking box.

image.png

We take the phrase literally by building your own B❒X.

We build the box to make the invisible – visible, the unconscious – conscious and the seemingly impossible – possible.

You will do many things with your B❒X to support this.

image.png

Introduce the topic and connect success in that topic to thinking out of the box.

Provide some insights into what we will do and why we will do it.

Establish the B❒X as a stable process with 15 years of research and thousands of participants around the world.

Give a high level overview of the process.

1.0 What is The B❒X?

image.png

Overview:

Informative and interactive introduction to the concept of the box including:

❒ equating “the box” with mindset

❒ The purpose of the box is safety and success ❒ The 9-dot puzzle (the source of the phrase, “think out of the box”)

❒ we think out of the box to solve Puzzling Situations

❒ more deeply connect the topic to the program and to their B❒X.

BOX EXPERIENCE: Inside Flap

image.png
  • Complete the 9-Dot Puzzle
  • Write your topic on the BOX.

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

What is the BOX demo video:

image.png

The B❒X is another way of talking about Mindset

The purpose of the B❒X is safety and success

image.png

The origin of the phrase “Think out of the BOX” is the “Nine Dot Puzzle.” This was used by Disney in the 50’s to get their people to think creatively.

Get participants to try the puzzle.

image.png

Connect how we approached the nine-dot puzzle to how we solve puzzling situations in general.

Your Brain creates an invisible box around the puzzle to focus your attention.

You try solving the puzzle from inside that box.

The solution comes from going out of the invisible box and back in two times.

This puzzle is the source of the phrase “Think out of the box” as you need to go out of the box to solve puzzling situations.

image.png

In the real world we have puzzling situations as well.

We don’t have the right pieces in our box to solve the puzzle so we decide to think out of the box to find new solutions…

but…

We discount those ideas because we can’t get them back into our box.

So we do the best we can.

image.png

That’s why thinking out of the box will never be enough. We have to make adjustments to the boundaries of our thinking to make space for new ideas or no brainstorming session or creative process will make a difference as we won’t do any of those out of the box ideas until we can fit them into our better box.

image.png

That’s why out topic today is build a better ________ box.

We may not find the solution to the topic, but we can create a mindset that will find solutions more quickly and be willing to test and implement them.

Write today’s topic on the box in the space provided.

2.0 Build your B❒X

image.png

Overview:

Begin the process of personalizing the B❒X on the outside (the observable self or persona) by decorating three panels.

  1. Appearance
  2. What you are doing now for the day’s topic
  3. Your personal brand (what you want others to think about you).

Sharing in pairs and/or small groups to build rapport and understanding.

BOX EXPERIENCE: Outside Panels 1-3

image.png

Panel 1: Draw your Appearance

Panel 2: Write/draw what you are doing now related to the topic

Panel 3: Write/draw your personal brand (what you want others to think of you)

Use the outside of the box as a get to know you activity to build rapport in the group

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Introduction and Panel 1 Video

Panel 2 Video:

Panel 3 Video:

image.png

Now that we understand what we mean when we say “think out of the box,” let’s build your box.

We start on the outside, which is our observable self.

image.png

Before you start, be careful with the markers and the holes in the box so you don’t ruin clothes, tables or table cloths as you personalize your box.

Panel 1: Appearance

Personalize the front so it is obviously yours.

image.png

Panel 2: Doing Now

What are you doing now related to today’s topic? Write examples on your box.

Panel 3: Personal Brand

What words do you hope others use to describe you?

image.png

Pairs or small groups introduce themselves using their B❒X.

3.0 Signals to Breakthrough the B❒X

OVERVIEW:

  • We don’t think out of the box when things are working well for us, it is when we are not getting the results we desire.
  • There are a few signals to think out of the box and the first one is Feeling Boxed In.

We’ve talked about what the B❒X is, and you’ve started building your box, now it is time think about when we need to think beyond the box.

image.pngWhen do we think in and when do we think out of the box?

We don’t need to think out of the box when we are getting good results, it is when we are under pressure that we find the signals to breakthrough the box.

image.png

We will cover two key signals that it is time to breakthrough the B❒X to have more creative responses to the puzzling situations of life.

3.1 Boxed-In Feelings

OVERVIEW:

  • To simulate that feeling, participants wear their B❒X for 3 to 5 minutes, and then debrief the feelings that generated and how that is similar to how they may feel under pressure.
  • Feeling boxed in isn’t bad, it is just a signal that your thinking isn’t delivering the results you want, and you need to breakthrough your box to better results.

BOX EXPERIENCE: Participants Wear the B❒X

image.png
  • Wear the B❒X while completing some tasks.
  • Debrief the feeling and emotions of having the B❒X on your head.
  • Connect that to feelings and experiences under pressure.

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Signals to breakthrough and Boxed In Feeling Introduction video:

Boxed in Feelings debrief video:

To simulate that feeling, participants wear their B❒X for 3 to 5 minutes, and then debrief the feelings that generated and how that is similar to how they may feel under pressure.

image.png

With their B❒X on, they discuss how they feel. With their B❒X off, we have a discussion about the similarities between having the box on their head, and feeling under pressure.

There are a number of common experiences when putting the box on your head, and all of these are common signals that you might need to breakthrough your box to get better results.

3.2 Boxed-In Behaviors

OVERVIEW:

  • Boxed in feelings can lead to boxed in behaviors.
  • We try to present a positive outer appearance, but under pressure our behaviors may change.
  • Those behaviors can be signals to breakthrough your thinking to better results.
  • Comparing your Boxed-In Behaviors with (panel 4) with what we are Doing Now (pane 2) and what your Personal Brand (Panel 3) provides insights on how we feel about our our Boxed-In Behaviors.
  • Reflection on what each individuals boxed in behaviors are, and how to deal with those concludes this session.

BOX EXPERIENCE: Outside Panel 4

image.png

Write Boxed-In Behaviors on Panel 4

Share the contrast between panels 2, 3 and 4

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Boxed In Behaviors Demo Video:

The second signal to breakthrough the box is boxed in behaviors.

I want to present the best of me to others, but under pressure some coping behaviors may show up.

Like a glass with cold water has condensation on the outside, when I am masking my Boxed-In Feelings, some behaviors will show up on the outside.

We call those Boxed-In Behaviors.

Reflect on Panel 4 what your Boxed In Behaviors are.

Compare what you are doing now (Panel 2) with your Boxed-in Behaviors (Panel 4).

Compare your Personal Brand (Panel 3) with your Boxed-In Behaviors (panel 4).

What do you notice?

The gap or contradiction between what you want to be doing and showing to others, and your boxed-in behaviors may lead you to believe that your Boxed-In Behaviors are wrong or bad… they are in fact, just a signal that your unconscious thinking isn’t working, and you need to consciously break through your B❒X.

In the closing discussion we contrast panel 2 (what you are doing now) and panel 3 (our personal brand) with panel 4 (boxed in behaviors). Boxed in behaviors aren’t bad… they are just reactions to our normal thinking not working for us.

4.0 Breakthrough Strategies to Build a Better B❒X

image.png

OVERVIEW

Introduce the structure for the next section of the program.

We will go through each element of the physical box with these four steps:

  1. My B❒X Helps Me The gift of that part of your B❒X
  2. Challenge to Think out of the B❒X Over reliance on the gift can create challenges for creativity.
  3. Breakthrough Strategy A way to breakthrough your current thinking to unlock new possibilities
  4. Build a Better B❒X A way to apply this strategy in everyday life or to the topic of the program

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Build a Better Box Introduction Demo Video:

image.png

Remind them of the day’s process flow and connect the signals to breakthrough the box to strategies to do that.

For each aspect of the B❒X we will go through a four-step process to help you build a better box, first with your physical B❒X, and then with your invisible thinking box.

  1. My B❒X Helps Me There is a reason that people have to tell you to think out of the box, and that is because it works most of the time. Each part of the box provides a real and valuabel service to our safety and success.
  2. Challenge to Think out of the B❒X In fact the B❒X is so good, that overuse or dependance on the gift of the box creates a challenge to think out of it. Call it your comfort zone, or unconscious bias, our mind resists change BECAUSE it has worked. image.png
  3. Breakthrough Strategy To go beyond the boundaries of our thinking, we need to breakthrough the benefits (and boundaries) our unconscious thinking creates for us. Each Breakthrough Strategy will connect to us altering the box some how, either by physically breaking through the box, or by reflecting on the box.
  4. Build a Better B❒X Once we have broken through, we need to find a way to lengthen and support the change. These are practical ways to adjust your thinking to to make long term change and improvement. Connect this to the topic.

This can be a review slide and a transition to the first section of building a better box…Own your B❒X.

4.1 Own your B❒X

image.png

OVERVIEW

  1. The B❒X Helps Me Protect my Inner Self The outside is like a mask or a helmet that can keep me safe and stay connected with others.
  2. Challenge to think out of the B❒X I Hold Back Because I protect my inner self, I don’t always advocate for my thoughts, ideas or needs.
  3. Breakthrough Strategy Own your B❒X (punch out a front filter)Recognize that you control how open or closed you are.
  4. Build a Better B❒X Let your Light ShineYou have a unique perspective and your own gifts to give your world. Every time you open your B❒X you create more opportunity for change.

Psychological Safety:

  • Change is a door that must be opened from the inside. You own your box and you control what you write and talk about today.
  • Don’t write anything on the B❒X that you don’t want others to see.

BOX EXPERIENCE: Front of the BOX- OUTSIDE

image.png
  • Open a front panel from the outside.
  • Take a selfie with the panel open.
  • Look at the photo and discuss how opening up our box connects to authenticity, vulnerability.

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Own your B❒X Video Demo:

MY BOX HELPS ME PROTECT MY INNER SELF

The inside of our B❒X represents our inner thinking.

Here we hold our struggles, feelings, wins and losses, values, self talk, our dreams and our lessons of the past.

These things are complex and many should remain private.

CHALLENGE TO THINK OUT OF THE BOX: I HOLD BACK

I want to stay connected to you so I control what I show and what i hold back.

By over emphasizing the protection the box can provide to me, I can hold back more than is necessary and limit my influence and power.

BREAKTHROUGH STRATEGY: OWN YOUR BOX (or your box owns you)

You can control how open and closed you are.

You choose what you put on the outside and what you keep on the inside.

Your B❒X owns you when you are unconscious of how it is impacting you and your results.

Owning the B❒X is recognizing that you have the power to adjust your thinking at any time to ensure that you are getting the best results possible.

Prompt: Raise your hand if you would like next year to be better than last year?

As most everyone raises their hand it shows that people WANT CHANGE.

It isn’t that people don’t want to change…

It is that people don’t want to BE changed.

Change is a door that must be opened from the inside.

Breakthrough the BOX:To represent that opening from the inside out, we invite you to open one eye panel.

Once you have done that, take a selfie with that eye open.

Look at the image and see how your face has changed.

Debrief: Opening feels good AND it creates some loss of protection.

In to me you see… as you open up you let more of yourself show out to others, and while this may feel uncomfortable, it is how we build a better box.

BUILD A BETTER BOX: Let your light shine.

There is something inside of you that is unique to you. A perspective, a thought, an approach. Opening up and advocating for your perspective is a part of every creative initiative. Whether it is having crazy ideas when brainstorming, or engaging in confrontation when converging to a final decision, to break through your box you will have to advocate for yourself in a different way which will require a new level of authenticity and vulnerability.

In the following sections we will invite you to open your B❒X to yourself through reflection, writing and sharing with others. Give yourself the opportunity to go deep and see what comes up.

We will never ask you to share something you do not want to with another.

And we also want you to be aware that other might be able to read anything you write on your box.

If there are reflections or thoughts that you would like to keep private we suggest that you draw a picture that has meaning to you rather than writing it in words.

Review Owning the BOX as a way of transitioning to the next section…Open Filters.

4.2 Open New Filters

image.png

OVERVIEW

  1. The B❒X Helps Me Understand (and be Understood)I use filters/lenses that I have created over my lifetime to understand and be understood.
  2. Challenge to think out of the B❒X I Forget I Filter EverythingI think I am experiencing “reality” but I am in fact filtering through my past experience, knowledge and expertise. When I forget this it is easy for me to become rigid, stubborn or slow to change.
  3. Breakthrough Strategy Open new Filters (punch open a front filter) We punch out the remaining front filter to represent opening up new levels of understanding through new experiences.
  4. Build a Better B❒X Open with CuriosityOne way to keep your filters open is to practice curiosity.

BOX EXPERIENCE: Front of the BOX-INSIDE

image.png
  • Open a front panel representing opening new filters to let in more.
  • Partner exercise: wear the B❒X and have a conversation about experiences that have opened new filters.

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Open New Filters Demo Video:

We move to the inside of the box and focus on the area with the eyes/nose/mouth.

MY BOX HELPS ME UNDERSTAND AND BE UNDERSTOOD

It’s like going to the eye doctor for an eye test .your brain is constantly trying to make meaning more clear, and figure out better ways of communicating to others.

How are those lenses made?

With experience and knowledge.

On this physical box, each one of the holes have to punched out by hand one by one.

And the same thing happens with you over time. As you gain an “eye opening” experience, or you learn some new knowledge or capability, you open up a new way of understanding the world and communicating with others.

These lenses help you make meaning and communicate your meaning with others.

While we think we are experience reality, we are actually looking at events through our own filters and our perspective .

So in this slide there is an event and one person is observing the smoke…thinking of the effects and impact while the other is observing the explosion or the root cause.

We have two different interpretations of what happened, what is important, what it means and that is because we filter everything.

“Our filters help us most of the time, but filters can be fooled. This dog has only experienced this door with glass. No matter how much the human tries to convince the dog that there is no danger, the dog’s filter makes going through the door “impossible.” We laugh at the dog, but our thinking does the same thing using past experiences to understand current context or imagine future possibilities.”

CHALLENGE: Like the dog, I FORGET I FILTER EVERYTHING

Prompt: What Experience and Knowldege are you relying on to understand your puzzling situations?

BREAKTHROUGH STRATEGY: OPEN NEW FILTERS

Our filters are created through experience and knowledge.

Sometimes our current expertise and knowledge will keep us from learning more.

Breakthrough the B❒X: Open the other front filter.

We break open the remaining front filter to represent our willingness to open up to new ideas, and perspectives.

BUILD A BETTER BOX:OPEN WITH CURIOSITY

While there are many ways to open up to learning, one of the easiest is to adopt a perspective of curiosity.

Let’s practice the difference between being closed and open with others by having a conversation with the B❒X on your head now that you have opened up your front filters.

Put the box on your heads and share some core life experiences that have changed how you understand the world.

Debrief: How was this different to our earlier B❒X Experience?

You can use these slides to recap the learning and transition to the Align to the Future section.

4.3 Align to the Future

image.png

OVERVIEW

  1. The B❒X Helps Me Succeed Success is one of the core purposes of the box.
  2. Challenge to think out of the B❒X I don’t want to FailTo ensure we succeed, we reduce our goals to the point where we know we can’t fail.
  3. Breakthrough Strategy Align to the Future (write your Success Image on puzzle pieces)By creating a success image we really want, we provide the rational for change.
  4. Build a Better B❒X Ask for MoreAsk for what you really want, not what you think you can get or you think you deserve.

BOX EXPERIENCE: Back of Inside

image.png
  • Write three to four key outcomes related to todays topic on the on the four center pieces of the puzzle.
  • Write other outcomes that are important to your future on the other outside pieces.
  • Use this as a tool for sharing your success image.

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Align to the Future Demo Video to the four center pieces:

Align to the Future Demo Video the side pieces:

Now we are moving to the far left panel, which is the back of the box.

MY BOX HELPS ME SUCCEED

Our hopes, dreams, desires, and vision of the future exists inside of our box.

CHALLENGE: I DON’T WANT TO FAIL

Challenge to thinking out of the B❒X is that we have learned how to succeed by choosing goals that we cannot fail at. Depending on your background, you may have learned to not ask for more than you think you can get. Maybe that came through disappointment at not achieving your goals, or from being punished for poor performance. It can also come from being rewarded for succeeding at an easy target.

BREAKTHROUGH STRATEGY: Align to the Future that you Really Want

By creating a success image that is compelling and energizing, we give us the chance to achieve more through a creative response.

When we reduce the challenge of our goals , we are also reducing the necessity to think out of the box. When you have an out of your box success image, you are recognizing that you are creative and will find solutions for puzzling situations that will inevitably come from having that out your box success image.

What do we mean by a success image?

  1. the target represents a FUTURE OUTCOME
  2. The heart represents it something that YOU CARE ABOUT
  3. The puzzle represents that it is complex and puzzling

You are going to create a success image for today’s topic.

As you think about the topic, what are three or four outcomes that you want to experience directly related to today’s topic?

As we are creating a better box for today’s topic, lets make those three to four outcomes the primary focus of our thinking.

Make sure that you really care about the outcomes and that you aren’t already able to do it.

BUILD A BETTER BOX: ASK FOR MORE

Before we go on to the next step in our success image, let’s push our thinking a little farther out of the box.

You probably know the story of Aladin and the Genie. The Genie can’t grant wishes from inside the lamp. Aladin had to let the Genie out.

And when making a wish to the Genie, it is important to ask for what you REALLY want.

The same is true for your thinking. Inside you have an inner GENIEous. And the way you let that genious out is by asking for more. If you don’t ask for more, there is no reason to be creative. Creativity begins with an increase in your desire.

On the other outside puzzle pieces we invite you to write additional outcomes you want to experience. These can be directly or indirectly related to the topic. The most important thing is that these are the outcomes you really want to experience.

Find a partner and share your important pieces of your Success Image.

You can use this slide as a review of what just happened as we transition to Open your Mind.

4.4 Open your Mind

image.png

OVERVIEW

  1. The B❒X Helps Me Make ChoicesThe left and right side make a battery, which represents how we make quick decisions based on positive and negative energy.
  2. Challenge to think out of the B❒X I Trust my Old ThinkingWhen I am unconscious of my thinking, I make decisions based on my past experience instead of my success image.
  3. Breakthrough Strategy Open your Mind (reflect and write on your box)We break open the left and right side of the bo to represent how to open our minds to find new ways of exploring possibilities to make better decisions.
  4. Build a Better B❒X Let out the Old & Let in the NewChoose old thoughts to let go of to make space for new thoughts that are aligned to your success image.

BOX EXPERIENCE: Red and Green Sides

image.png
  • Write your “buts’ (contradictions) to your success image on the red side.
  • Punch open the red and green side representing having an open mind.
  • Choose some negative thoughts to let out the exit of the red side.
  • Add some new ideas on the green side.

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Open Your Mind Demo Video part 1:

Open your Mind Demo Video part 2:

Now we are moving to the red and green sides of the box.

If you look at the slides, you can see how we are going to fold the front away from you to put the red and green sides together.

You’ll notice that these two sides create a battery when they come together.

MY BOX HELPS ME MAKE CHOICES

We make thousands of choices every day. From what clothes we wear, to what we eat, to how we respond to a challenging situation.

One way of understanding how our brain makes choices is the metaphor of positive and negative energy.

Just like your phone, it can only operate if it has enough energy, and you need to both charge and discharge the battery to use it. A similar thing happens to you as you make choices.

Some options charge you up, others drain you.

In general, when given a choice, our brain will choose energizing solutions and avoid draining solutions. The brain will try to find the most efficient choice to produce the least drain and the most gain.

What happens when you create an out of your box success image? Your brain will start creating reasons why that is not going to happen, or be very difficult to achieve.

You want this… but… there are some very good reasons why that may not be possible, or the risk may not be worth the reward.

In this exercise, we invite you to list out the “buts” that are generated when you review your success image. One way to do this is to look at a piece of the puzzle or a section of the image and notice what contradictions come up. Whatever comes up, just write it down. If there are some thoughts that are too personal, you can keep it private by using an image to capture that thought.

CHALLENGE TO THINK OUT OF THE BOX IS I TRUST MY OLD THINKING

It is like there is a book of memories inside that you are referencing as you think about different possibilities.

YOUR CURRENT THINKING IS PERFECTLY DESIGNED TO GET YOUR CURRENT RESULTS

If you want new results you are going to have to go against your current thinking to have let go of old thoughts to make space for new possibilities.

BREAKTHROUGH STRATEGY: OPEN YOUR MIND

To represent opening your mind, punch out the Red and Green tabs on the BOX.

Mental Floss: The image we use represents mental floss. Just like when you get a piece of old food stuck in your teeth, you need to floss it out, the same thing happens to your thinking when an old thought gets you stuck. You can let the old thought out to make space for a new thought that is aligned to the future that you really want, not the past that no longer exists.

As you think about today’s topic, and look at your success image.

What old thoughts are you willing to let exit out of your thinking to make space for new thoughts that are aligned to the future that you want.

Share their success image in pairs or small groups.

You can use this slide to transition from this section to the next.

5.0 Change your B❒X Change your World

image.png

OVERVIEW

  • Wear your Better B❒X to experience the difference between a fixed and growth mindset.
  • In the next two sections we’ll explore the impact of using your Better B❒X.

BOX EXPERIENCE: Wear the Better BOX

image.png

Wear the better box and contrast and compare this with the original box.

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Experience your Better BOX Demo Video:

We’ve introduced the Breakthrough Strategies to Build a Better BOX… now lets see how that better box will impact you and your world.

We say, “change your box, change your world.”

As you change your inner thinking, that provide you with new behaviors and responses on the outside of your box, which in turn impacts the world around you.

In this part we will go over a number of ways that your better box will positively impact you and your world.

First, lets recognize what we have done.

When we first put the box on our head, we said this represented us under pressure…feeling boxed in.

We provided you with a number of strategies for breaking through and building a better box to make a more open mindset.

Put on this better box and share what you experience in your better box.

Debrief around the difference between a fixed and growth mindset.

Now that we’ve worked on building our better box, we are going to explore how to leverage that improved thinking to make a difference in our behaviors and results.

5.1 Build a Bigger B❒X

image.png

OVERVIEW

  1. My BETTER B❒X Helps Me Work with Others
  2. Challenge to think out of the B❒X Every BOX is Different
  3. Breakthrough Strategy Build a BIGGER B❒X (connect boxes together)
  4. Build a Better B❒X Open B❒X Conversations

BOX EXPERIENCE: Connect the BOXes

35E9E756-7945-426E-BA13-A3A377DB5BC4_1_105_c.jpeg
  • Open your box to your colleagues.
  • Connect with a group of five or more.
  • Get inside the “circle” that is created.
  • Have some discussions about what you experience.
  • Make the B❒X BIGGER by connecting as many as possible.
  • Debrief what that represents.

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Build a Bigger BOX Demo Video:

MY BETTER BOX HELPS ME WORK WITH OTHERS:

One of the biggest impacts a better box will have on you is on your ability to do more with others. It is one kind of challenge to think out of your box…it is a whole other level challenge (and reward) to get a group of people to think out of their box together.

CHALLENGE TO THINK OUT OF THE BOX IS EVERY BOX IS DIFFERENT

You are looking at the outside of others, not really aware of what is happening on the inside. In teams, our BOXED IN BEHAVIORS show up and that can make connecting and working together difficult.

But when you have an open box, you can connect to others differently, remember what is really important to you and having an open mind about how approach things which can generate a connected we…

BREAKTHROUGH STRATEGY: BUILD A BIGGER BOX

Get in a circle of five or more people.

Hold your box open in front of you.

Connect the velcro to the box of the people on your left and right making a circle of boxes.

Once you are comfortable with that, take a step inside to experience what it is like being together in a bigger box.

While in that bigger box, discuss these prompts.

The key to building a bigger box is learning how to have Open B❒X Conversations.

  1. Align to your Common Future Start by finding the common success between people that pulls them together.
  2. Own your B❒X Recognize that you control how open or closed you are and focus on being more open.
  3. Be Curious Ask for other’s opinions, listen to their ideas, go outside of your normal behaviors to learn more.
  4. Open your Mind Reduce your negative judgements, hold your opinions lightly and be willing to explore new possibilities.

Now let’s think about today’s topic.

What becomes possible in this circle, that is not possible for you alone?

As we think about the topic, it is possible that we can make our box even bigger…

How big of a box can we make today? [challenge them to make it as big as possible]

In this bigger box, what becomes possible?

How can this bigger box impact today’s topic?

You can recap with this slide as a way of transitioning to the next topic.

5.2 Choose a Breakthrough Password

image.png

OVERVIEW

  1. My BETTER B❒X Helps Me Grow
  2. Challenge to think out of the B❒X Stuck in my Confident Zone
  3. Breakthrough Strategy Create a Breakthrough Password (write password on B❒X)
  4. Build a Better B❒X Use your Breakthrough Password

BOX EXPERIENCE: Bottom Right Inside Panel

image.png
  • Write your B❒X Breakthrough Password
  • Use the B❒X as a sharing tool.

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Create a Breakthrough Password Demo Video:

image.png

MY BETTER BOX HELPS ME GROW

Another way my better box helps me is to keep me growing.

By constantly asking for more, opening up with curiosity and having an open mind you have the opportunity to achieve more than you currently think possible.

CHALLENGE TO THINK OUT OF THE BOX IS I GET STUCK

One way of talking about this is the comfort zone.

Another way is to getting stuck in the CONFIDENT ZONE. The confident zone isn’t always comfortable, but it is the way that you are confident that you’ll get both safety and success.

You’ve had a lifetime generating your mindset from thousands of experiences, so making lasting change is going to be difficult.

image.png

BREAKTHROUGH STRATEGY: CREATE A BREAKTHROUGH PASSWORD

To help you remember that you own your box, and that you can find creative solutions to your puzzling situations, we will create a password.

Open your box to the bottom right panel.

Create a password you can use whenever you need to consciously change your unconscious thinking.

It can be a song, poem, slogan, image or just about anything you can remember easily to get more conscious.

image.png

BUILD A BETTER BOX: USE YOUR BREAKTHROUGH PASSWORD

You can use your password at any time, but three times you particularly want to use it are

  1. When you are working on a puzzling situation.
  2. When you are feeling boxed in.
  3. When you are experiencing Boxed In Behaviors

At these time, you can repeat your password and remind yourself that you can open your box to get new results.

If you want you can use this slide to recap this section before transitioning to the Change your World section

5.3 Change your World

image.png

OVERVIEW

If you make the improvements on the inside of your box (thoughts, feelings, strategies), what changes will show up on the outside (your behaviors)?

STEP TWO VIDEOS:

Change your World Demo Video:

We are leaving the inside of your box and returning to the outside, which is where your behaviors and actions are. Imagine yourself living out this new thinking, keeping your mind open, focusing on what you really want, and operating with a better bigger box…

If you make those changes to your inner thinking…

  1. what new actions might others see you do (or might you see yourself do)?
  2. What new things might others hear you say?
  3. What new feedback might others give you (or what new impact might you have on others)?
  4. When you look in the mirror, what might you notice that is different, or how might you feel different about the person that you see?

Put a star next to the most motivating change and share that with others.
